Investigative services for private clients

Family matters, establishing a person's whereabouts, tracing assets and documenting events — handled discreetly and within the limits of the law.

Before you instruct us. Private matters usually arise from difficult family situations. In the first conversation we will tell you honestly whether an enquiry will genuinely help or merely confirm what is already known — and whether a solicitor or a mediator would serve you better. We do not accept instructions whose purpose is to harass another person.

All of them are handled so that the result can be used in court — and so that no step exposes you to an allegation of invading someone's privacy.

Marital infidelity enquiries

Clients usually come to us once suspicion has lasted for months and started to affect daily life. We establish the facts so the guessing can end — whichever way the answer turns out.

Observation is conducted exclusively in public and publicly accessible places. We document events visible to anyone present in the same location. We do not enter private property, photograph through windows, or record conversations we are not party to.

Scope and duration are agreed in advance. You receive a report of activities together with the documentation; in divorce matters we prepare it in a form your lawyer can use.

Establishing a person's whereabouts

Locating someone with whom contact has been lost: a debtor, a witness, a person liable for maintenance, an heir or a family member. We use registers, open sources and field enquiries.

This service requires a demonstrable legitimate legal interest — for example pending proceedings, an enforcement order or a probate matter. We will ask for that document before accepting the instruction; it is a condition of lawfulness, not a formality.

Establishing assets

Establishing what the other party holds — for maintenance proceedings, division of property after divorce, probate, or enforcement of an awarded sum.

We check only what can be established lawfully: public registers, records of business activity, open-source information. We have no access to bank accounts or to data covered by professional secrecy, and nobody operating lawfully does.

Documenting events

Recording events that may matter in proceedings: how the other party behaves towards a child during contact, breaches of court orders, the actual use being made of a property, the circumstances of a road incident.

Documentation is prepared so that it can be filed with the case: with dates, a description of the circumstances, and a statement of how it was obtained.

How observation is conducted

What an investigator may and may not do

Observation takes place only in public and publicly accessible places — streets, premises open to customers, car parks, the approaches to buildings. We document events visible to anyone standing in the same place.

We do not enter homes or fenced private property. We do not photograph through windows. We do not install listening devices or record conversations we are not party to. We do not access another person's phone, e-mail or social media accounts. We do not obtain call records, banking data or information covered by professional secrecy.

An investigator is also required to inform the client if, in the course of the work, circumstances emerge indicating an offence prosecuted ex officio — and in defined cases to notify the authorities.

Discretion

How we protect your privacy

Contact on your terms

We agree which number and address we may use, and at what times. Where the situation calls for it, we keep correspondence to a minimum.

Documents handed over in person

The report and the material are handed over personally or by another secure method we agree with you. We do not post them to a home address without your express instruction.

Limited retention

Case material is kept only for as long as needed to complete the instruction and defend against claims, and is then permanently deleted.
